Working with Olim

In recent years, I have been working extensively with Olim, mainly from French and English speaking countries. I help them through the Aliya  and integration process.

The new immigrant population experiences multiple adjustment difficulties and often feels confused and alone. Culture, language, work, religious practices, the educational system, and many other things are very different from their countries of origin.

Sometimes the children come to Israel at an age when they have not yet fully mastered their mother tongue, and are coping with the acquisition of a new language.

I test children in their mother tongue (English and French) in addition to Hebrew, in order to get a fuller picture of the child's situation. The goal is to make a distinction between difficulties arising from learning disabilities that are independent of language, and difficulties arising from coping with multiple languages.
