Parent counseling

There are different types of parent counseling. Parent workshops are very popular and there is also a lot of information about parenting available on the web. Most parents today are highly aware of their parental role, learn the subject and try to be the best parents they can.

Sometimes, all of this knowledge doesn't work. What was learned in a workshop or read in an article doesn't work with our child. Sometimes with the child's developmental changes, the parents need precise skills for the specific developmental stage, at a specific point in time. The needs of a kindergarten child are very different from the needs of an adolescent, and so are the parental skills needed to deal with each age and its challenges.

The goal of parent counseling is to help change and adapt responses to their child while examining the difficulties and strengths of their child as well as their own. Parental guidance is an effective way to provide a therapeutic solution for the child via their parents, sometime even without a need for the child to be in therapy.
